The Perfect Slip Dress By Anine Bing

The Perfect Slip Dress By Anine Bing

I don’t really wear dresses often, stick me in a suit or a great pair of trousers and I’m happy, I know I can hear the gasps already! There’s a lot of women out there that just won’t understand but it’s just the way I am, however going through the process of building my perfect capsule wardrobe I’ve recognized that there are certain items I definitely need to invest in.

A slip dress was at the top of the list, but I didn’t want just any slip dress I had my heart set on one from Anine Bing as she just so happens to be one of my favourite designers. I spotted the Rosemary Slip dress straight away on Net a Porter and it was everything I was looking for. It had gorgeous slim spaghetti straps, 100% silk, a beautiful, subtle leopard print pattern and the most incredible fit you’ve ever seen. Obviously I had to buy it..

When this dress arrived it was like Christmas day all over again! I couldn’t wait to get it on and see how it felt, what the fit was like and if I was going to love it as much as I was hoping….Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint.

One of the best things about having a great slip dress in your wardrobe is how versatile it is. You have so many options to dress it up or down depending on your mood.

Obviously you can wear the slip just as is, Looking incredible on it’s own with some beautiful statement jewellery like a Rose Gold Chain necklace, drop earrings to match and a pair of killer heels. I am pairing it with my Story81 Milan bag as the tones compliment it perfectly. This will have you feeling and looking like you own the room.

To add a bit more of a relaxed dimension to this dress I love throwing on a casual jumper, maybe a light linen v-neck that you can wear one side just off the shoulder. It just adds a

Whole new vibe to the dress and looks so chic at the same time. This is definitely one of my favorite ways to wear it. I would pair it with delicate accessories, my Tissot watch, hoop earrings and my Story81 Milan Bag which is perfect as it can be worn as a clutch or a shoulder strap.

Then there is the classic and probably my favourite way to wear this slip dress, which is to simply add a structured blazer. I would always go for classic black, especially as the Rosemary Slip has this delicate pattern and anything else would detract from it. I would add a double layer necklace, nice hoops as they are simple but elegant and a simple watch. Sticking with the same Milan bag from Story81 as the sleek box design and colour structure works perfectly with this outfit.

Makeup wise I have kept it very paired back and simple for every look. I think when your wearing a dress as beautiful as this you don’t want anything to be fighting with it or detracting from it.. I would wear minimal foundation a flush of colour on the cheeks, with a pop of highlighter on cheekbones and eyes and a light stain of colour on the lips.

Do you like this kind of look? Do you have a favourite way to wear your slip dresses? I’d love to know.
